Get Dwell gives back

Last Saturday, Get Dwell celebrated 12 years of giving back to our community, teaming up with Rebuilding Together North Suburban Chicago.

This spring, Get Dwell donated its 10th Rebuilding Together project. “For this project, we donated a team of skilled labor to repair the roof, soffit and fascia area where water and animals were getting in and replaced an exterior door that did not close or lock.” said Brian Mazur, Production Manager at Get Dwell and this years’ House Captain. “Next, we prepped the home so we could maximize the volunteers on National Rebuilding Together Day.”

This last Saturday was National Rebuilding Together Day and while the Get Dwell team helped a homeowner in Evanston, other volunteer teams worked on 17 other projects throughout in the northern suburbs. Over the years, Sharon Riley, Don Trieschmann, Linda Baudhuin of Rebuilding Together North Suburban Chicago and their network have made a big impact on the lives of families in the north suburban community. “Helping these homeowners gives them a fresh start on things and provides the safety and security they need for their family.” says Darryl Rose, President of Get Dwell.

“Six years ago, I brought my young teenage kids and their friends to help a homeowner in North Chicago. It was the first time any of them had even been to North Chicago so it was a eye-opening experience for them. This year we had 4 Get Dwell employee’s volunteer and one of the guy’s brought his wife, who helped us organize the volunteers and another  brought his teenage son who we really put to work! This homeowner is a great grandmother who had multiple generations relying on her, so the team knew firsthand what a difference they made.”
