Get Dwell gives back

Posted on 04 May 2017 | Category: Events

Last Saturday, Get Dwell celebrated 12 years of giving back to our community, teaming up with Rebuilding Together North Suburban Chicago.

Liz and Brian Mazur

This spring, Get Dwell donated its 10th Rebuilding Together project. “For this project, we donated a team of skilled labor to repair the roof, soffit and fascia area where water and animals were getting in and replaced an exterior door that did not close or lock.” said Brian Mazur, Production Manager at Get Dwell and this years’ House Captain. “Next, we prepped the home so we could maximize the volunteers on National Rebuilding Together Day.”

This last Saturday was National Rebuilding Together Day and while the Get Dwell team helped a homeowner in Evanston, other volunteer teams worked on 17 other projects throughout in the northern suburbs. Over the years, Sharon Riley, Don Trieschmann, Linda Baudhuin of Rebuilding Together North Suburban Chicago and their network have made a big impact on the lives of families in the north suburban community. “Helping these homeowners gives them a fresh start on things and provides the safety and security they need for their family.” says Darryl Rose, President of Get Dwell.

“Six years ago, I brought my young teenage kids and their friends to help a homeowner in North Chicago. It was the first time any of them had even been to North Chicago so it was a eye-opening experience for them. This year we had 4 Get Dwell employee’s volunteer and one of the guy’s brought his wife, who helped us organize the volunteers and another  brought his teenage son who we really put to work! This homeowner is a great grandmother who had multiple generations relying on her, so the team knew firsthand what a difference they made.”

Tomorrow is Fix-it-Friday

Posted on 12 December 2013 | Category: Events, Specials

Fix-it-Friday was started to help our clients bring new life to those useful, sentimental and hard-to-find objects that are broken or do not work quite like they used to.

Our clients have found it difficult to find the “right” people to help them fix household items like furniture, lamps and other keepsakes. Armed with years of fixing experience and the right tools our carpenters and handymen make us the perfect resource to help save and fix your household objects and give them new life. Just bring the items you want fixed by the shop at 1046 Gage St (Alley Shop) in Winnetka between 9-5:00 this Friday. We’ll let you know if they can be fixed and give you a detailed cost estimate.

Enter Tower Court at the intersection of  Tower Rd and Greenbay Rd and proceed north down the alley -or- park at Hubbard Woods Park (at the Hubbard Woods train station) and walk south 2 doors down the alley and you’ll see our sign:

Give us a call if you have questions 847-922-3418 and we’ll see you on Friday!

Thanks to everyone who came out for the Grand Opening of our new shop —
it was great to spend some time with you!

The band Bunkertown set the groove for our celebration, and fun was had by all.

Special thanks to Ann Smith at the Winnekta-Northfield Chamber
for all her help and for having the really big scissors.
