Top Ten March Home Tips

March marks fresh beginnings and the shift from winter to spring — and some of the wildest weather of the year. Is your home ready for the winds and rain ahead?

1. Spring storms are coming — is your sump pump ready?

Spring rains + melting snow can overwhelm basements fast. A working sump pump is your first defense against flooding caused by Chicago’s heavy April rainstorms. Prevent costly water damage — testing your sump pump now helps avoid ruined flooring, drywall, stored items and the need for mold remediation later. Contact us to get your sump pump tested

2. Stop window well leaks before they start

3. Kickstart your spring garden

March in Chicago is prime time to start cool season and slow-growing plants indoors so they’re strong and ready once the last frost passes (typically late April to early May). Start plants such as boy choy, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, collard greens, kale, napa cabbage, herbs and warm-season crops such as tomatoes and peppers — giving them a head start before our short growing season kicks in. Stop into your local family-owned hardware store for a variety of seeds and get growing!

4. Elevate your yard with premium vinyl fencing

Premium textured vinyl fencing is clean, durable and modern and has become a homeowner favorite. Unlike wood, premium vinyl holds its color (never needs painting or staining). It resists fading, cracking and peeling and doesn’t rot, warp or splinter. A textured finish hides dirt and minor scuffs better than smooth vinyl, and has an elevated look closer in appearance to composites or painted wood. Contact us for a custom quote

5. Inspect masonry before cracks spread

Chicago winters are especially hard on masonry and concrete. Between freeze–thaw cycles and heavy moisture, chimneys and other brickwork take a real beating. Schedule a spring masonry inspection now before small cracks turn into costly repairs.

6. Let the light back in!

Window washing removes residue from road salt, snow spray and gritty wind. Get your windows cleaned before the spring sun exposes all that grime. Looking outside through sparkling clean windows is great after a long, hard winter, but consider the more tangible financial benefits of extended window life, mold prevention and improved energy efficiency. 7. Power wash winter away!

The spring sun is welcome, but it reveals the dirt, mildew and discoloration on your home’s exterior. As snow melts and temperatures rise, mold spores and algae will start growing again. Our experienced pressure washing pros know the appropriate settings and cleaning products to use on your particular home. They use only eco-friendly chemicals to both clean and rejuvenate your house while respecting your landscaping and the planet we all share. Request a pressure washing estimate

8. Revive your outdoor furniture

If your outdoor furniture is well made but showing its age, don’t toss it. Replacing a quality patio set can be an expensive mistake. In many cases, older pieces are built better than what you’ll find today. Tables, couches and chairs made of teak, cedar and other outdoor woods and materials can be restained, refinished and painted to extend their life and make them look new again!. Snap some photos and then reach out for an estimate.

9. Refresh your indoor air

During colder months, we spend up to 90% of our time indoors, where pollutant levels can be higher than outside. When moisture is present, contaminants can multiply and circulate through your home. Forced air ductwork collects dust,

debris and pet dander over time. If you haven’t had your ducts cleaned in over a year, recently remodeled, have pets, or are not the original homeowner, it may be time to schedule a duct cleaning. Request an estimate from us and breathe easier.

10. Bring your deck back to life

Summertime = deck time. If you have an existing deck that’s seen better days, we can help refresh it using a variety of techniques — from pressure washing to adding Trex products to your existing deck. Get a custom quote
