Frigid temps outside make it a great time to take a close look at the inside of your home and make some of those wish list items a reality.

Custom sauna

2. Let off some steam!

Hop on one of the hottest trends in home improvement — add a sauna. Saunas offer physical and mental health benefits, including improved circulation, detoxification, stress reduction, muscle recovery, mental clarity and focus, and more restful sleep. Sauna sessions just may make the bitter winter cold more tolerable. Contact us today to install a sauna kit or make your custom sauna a reality.

3. Eliminate exhausting mistakes

Does the ductwork from your bathroom fan exhaust into your attic and not out through the roof? Exhausting ductwork through the roof improves energy efficiency, prevents moisture issues such as mold growth, and maintains better air quality — contributing to a healthier and more comfortable home environment. It also complies with building regulations, so if you need a home inspection to refinance or sell your home you won’t have issues. Our Illinois-licensed roofing experts can ensure that your attic is properly vented and everything is just as it should be. Contact us to schedule an appointment

Custom indoor dog gate

6. Fencing Fido

If you’re looking to keep your furry companion(s) confined indoors — and your hard-to-use, store-bought gates just don’t cut it — building an indoor dog gate may be the perfect solution. A custom gate provides a safe and secure area where your pet can play or rest while preventing them access to other areas of the home when you are busy, working or just need them temporarily secluded. If your pet has abandonment issues that manifest in chewing furniture / pillows / shoes, a dog gate provides you with peace of mind while you’re out of the house. Our strong, attractive, custom-built wooden gates can be made to match existing house details; they can be painted or stained to become an attractive and functional addition to your home. Give yourself a gift this winter and let us install a heater and insulate your garage space so you can keep toasty out there! Contact us today

9. Chore Taskers (Handyman Lite)

Sometimes you just need an extra pair of hands. Chore Taskers, a less expensive alternative to our handyman service, can help with assembly/disassembly tasks, packing and unpacking, moving boxes, hanging indoor/outdoor decorations, cleaning window wells, organizing your garage, basement and attic — even changing light bulbs. Basically, anything that doesn’t require a skilled handyman or carpenter. Chore Taskers show up on time, are professional, organized and get the job done, no matter how large or small. 10. Damn ice!

Fluctuations in roof temperature can cause snow to melt up top, making water and slush slide down to the bottom of your roof, which doesn’t receive warm air from the attic so the water refreezes and continues to build into an ice dam. Ice dams prevent melting snow from draining off and can lead to serious and expensive gutter damage, roof damage and subsequent leaks. We recommend removing snow and ice dams with a snow roof rake to prevent further damage. Stop into your local family-owned hardware store to get your rake — one with wheels will be gentler on your shingles.
